LIVERPOOL FC is seeking to raise at least £100m from the sale of naming rights for its spectacular new stadium.
The club yesterday submitted a planning application for a redesigned £300m facility at Stanley Park which could eventually hold 76,000 fans, making it one of the country's biggest grounds.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Post from America last night, the club's billionaire owner, Tom Hicks, stressed construction of the stadium, including an 18,000-seater Kop end, was not dependent on naming rights being sold.
He said funds would be in place by the time the plans were considered by councillors this autumn.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry revealed the club is exploring a similar scale sponsorship deal to the ten-year £100m naming rights contract secured by Arsenal for its new Emirates stadium.
