Anfield Regeneration

The new stadium will
provide a catalyst for
regeneration of
Anfield/Breckfield.
The total jobs accounted
for by the new
stadium will
be 1,692 - making it
a major contributor to
the economy of North
Liverpool.
Across the national
economy, the Anfield
Stadium and Anfield Plaza
development
projects will
produce 2,800 jobs,
roughly one third of
which will be in the
stadium itself and in new
businesses around the
Plaza - with the
remaining jobs in the
surrounding area
supporting these
people. The
construction programme
itself is estimated to
support a
further 187 jobs.
Working with Anfield
Breckfield Community
Partnership's proposed
social
enterprises, the
goal is to ensure that
the maximum number of
local jobs are accessed
by local people.
The local JET and
Job Centre Plus, as well
as Hope at Everton and
Weston Spirit, are
already working on
specific training
programmes make this goal
a reality.
The Plaza will be a
tourism attraction having
a hotel, bar/restaurant,
a minimum of 1.6 hectares
of high quality public
open space, shops,
community uses,
residential and offices.
The contents of the
plaza is based on
community consultation
carried out in July
2003.
The total gross floor
space projected in the
outline planning
permission is 16,660
square metres. It is
envisaged that 640 jobs
will be directly created
by the scheme and nearly
450 indirectly.
